Tuesday, December 6, 2011: TWOfer Tuesday - The "Couple Of '70s Songs About New York" Edition

I'm a California guy myself, born and raised in Los Angeles.

So, as such, I'm used to getting flack from New Yorkers. Well, let 'em hate.

I'll just return it all with love. I certainly will not do an entire week devoted to New York, not like I did with California, anyway. However, I would be more than happy to set aside a couple of songs for a TWOfer Tuesday.

Especially if they are some tasty tunes from the grooving, soulful 1970's.

Enjoy, gentle reader, whichever coast you are from

Monday, December 5, 2011: Goldfrapp - Strict Machine

It's Monday.

Get out of the rut and get into a groove.

How about a nice and dirty discotech Goldfrapp groove?

Yes, sir, that will do nicely.

I can just about face the week now.

Saturday, December 3, 2011: Seven Saturdays - Au Revoir

Here's a song that you can get completely lost in.

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday. Or Seven.

Enjoy

Friday, December 2, 2011: George Clinton - Atomic Dog

Futuristic Bow Wow, indeed.

As it's December, we know what is just around the corner. Yes, it's that magical day where surprises await, and lovely gifts are to be had. Well, those, or unforgettable disappointments.

Yes, I'm talking about the annual Christmas office party.

If you're going to be the dog, then be an Atomic Dog this party season.

And kick it off with one of the grandest Old School Jams around.

Bow Wow Wow Yippie-Yo Yippie Yea.

Thursday, December 1, 2011: Counting Crows- A Long December

How great were the Counting Crows.

I mean, August And Everything After is probably one of the most perfect records ever, and certainly one of the defining records of the early 90's.

Their follow up, Recovering The Satellites, was always going to be in the shadow of that debut, but that doesn't mean it's a dog of an album. Exactly the opposite, in fact.

So let's kick off December with one of it's strongest tracks, as proof.

Here's to A Long December. Both in song and in time.

Let's make both last.
