Tuesday, March 11, 2025: TWOfer Tuesday - The "Old School Brining The Heat in 2024" Edition

I've already talked about how The Cure finally (FINALLY!) got their first number one ranked album all the way out in 2024.

But they weren't the only 80s bands bringing the heat in 2024.

First up are Heavy Metal Royalty Judas Priest who released Invincible Shield, their nineteenth studio in March 2024. It was produced by the band's touring guitarist Andy Sneap, who also produced 2018's Firepower.

The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, the highest position in the band's discography to date. In the US, it debuted at number 18 on the Billboard 200 and topped the spot for the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart, earning 25,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. [Source]

Those guitars are still to die for, I'll never get tired of that Judas Priest sound.

And next up, one of my absolute favorite bands, L.A.'s own X, it's great to see Exene Cervenka, John Doe, and the band standing up and rocking hard.

In 2024 they released Smoke and Fiction, their ninth and final studio album.

C'mon, you fellow old timers, let's show all these young whippersnappers how it's done.

Monday, June 18, 2012: Judas Priest - The Hellion/Electric Eye

Honda actually used The Hellion to sell their minivans.

The best part about that commercial, other than the soundtrack, was the satnav showing the route to Redemption Road.  Love it.

So, can minivans BE metal?  I guess you gotta haul your Marshall half-stack in something.

It's Monday, we are all a day older then we were yesterday, but that doesn't mean we have to just lie down and die quietly.  Crank it loud, and let's go find Redemption Road.
