Monday, November 19, 2012: Cody ChesnuTT - 'Till I Met Thee
This is Thanksgiving week in America, a uniquely American holiday where people gather together, family and friends, and stuff ourselves with outrageous amounts of food and try not to get into too big of an argument with people you've resisted seeing for most of the rest of the year. Or, you know, something like that.
What is good from this week, however, is that it generally brings out a certain introspection in people. Specifically, what exactly are we thankful for?
So, in that spirit, this brief week will be a mini-theme week, Thankful Week. First off, I am thankful for new music.
Released last month, Landing On A Hundred is the first album in a decade from Cody ChesnuTT, an throwback of pure R&B and Soul featuring real instruments (horns, guitars and bass), hearfelt lyrics and passionate vocals from a man who lives it like he means it.
This is why I do this blog. Everywhere people say (including me, sometimes), "They don't make 'em like they used to."
Well, let me help you start Thankful Week with a bright ray of Soul-infused Sunshine. If this doesn't sound as good, if not better, than what "they" used to do, then I don't know what to tell you. Draw the shutters, close the drapes, sulk in your chair and pine away for times long gone.
Me? I'm enjoying the now. It's not that bad, and with artists like this, it's just getting better.
Happy Monday, everyone. And be thankful for new music.
