CSOTD Bonus Edition: The Wonders - Dance With Me Tonight

The best song from That Thing You Do, a criminally underrated film.

I had done a whole write up about this movie, which I've since scrapped.  But I just couldn't abandon this song, it's too cool.

Cover bands usually fail to get this right.  Either their energy level is too low, or they try to load some cheese into the mix, interpreting this song as simply a pastiche.  Which it's not.

It's straight up, straight out, old school rock and roll.  The kind of honest effort most people just don't put out anymore.

And besides, if that shot of Tom Hanks at around 1:15 doesn't give you a mile wide grin, then you'll probably never really understand anyway.
