Thursday, April 19, 2012: Dexter Gordon - Willow Weep For Me

And now, for some Old School Cool.

It doesn't get much cooler than Blue Note Records, and Blue Note Records seldom got cooler than Tenor Saxophonist Dexter Gordon and his 1963 album Our Man In Paris.

Dig it.

CSOTD Bonus Edition: Gordon Lightfoot - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

On this date, November 10, 1975, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank during a storm while traveling on Lake Superior.

29 lives were lost, the largest maritime disaster on the Great Lakes. No bodies have ever been recovered.

Does any one know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Saturday, October 9, 2010: Louis Gordon - This Air

Saturday songs are a stuggle.

Somedays I just want to crank up the volume, wake the neighbours, rattle the dishes and scream out loud, "Thank God It's The Weekend!"

But then, other days I'll want more of a reflective time, something not too catatonic, but nothing too jarring. You just want to let the coffee settle in the French press, lay on the sofa and relax.

Exhale.

Here's a song for everyone who needs to exhale this Saturday.

Enjoy.
