With a name like Chappell Roan, I would have sworn she was from the U.K. Turns out she's from Missouri, birth name Kayleigh Rose Amstutz.
Her new single, "Good Luck, Babe!," is a song dealing with themes of love and rejection, specifically focusing on a same-sex relationship where Roan's lover struggles with her identity and ultimately denies her feelings for Roan. This is one of those classic examples in pop music of heartfelt lyrics covered over with a bright, light pop beat with electronic drums and a synth straight out of 1983.
I've said over and over again how much I love pure, unabashed pop music, and here's yet another prime example, I look forward to many cool songs coming from this artist. Enjoy.
