Fifty-five years ago, on October 7, 1955, at the Six Gallery on Fillmore Street, San Francisco, a room measuring 20 x 25 feet with a dirt floor, Allen Ginsberg read his poem "Howl" for the first time. To about 150 to 200 people.

And the world changed. Forever.

I'm preparing for Covers Week here on CSOTD.   Here's a taste.

There's nothing like waking up on a Monday morning, looking around at your life and getting that sudden realization that just makes you want to scream, "My God, What Have I Done?"

Indeed.

Yes, there's far better Kaiser Chiefs songs, Mark Ronson is a bit of a hack, Lilly Allen is can be pretty annoying and this song's association with this movie come's within a hair's-breadth of disqualifying it from being cool. However, all those negatives, irksome individually, come together here to produce an abundance of attitude, encouragement and a perfect pop hook that makes for a fine choice this Monday morning.

Thus, keeping it just barely on this side of cool. Just.
