Thursday, February 15, 2024: Jonatha Brooke & The Story - Where Were You?

 

Jonatha Brooke came out around in that early to mid 90s 1990s vibe that included the Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin, and the like.  This track is from her 1995 album Plumb.

She's is still recording, still touring, writing off-Broadway plays, and generally has a discography that you could easily do a satisfying deep dive into and come away with a lifetime full of treasures.  

Here's to the survivors, the creators, the poets and the troubadours; keeping it real, keeping it up and keeping it out there for the rest of us to enjoy.

Thursday, February 2, 2012: Brook Benton - Rainy Night in Georgia

It's day four here on Guest Presenter Week - and Nick Littrell, our very first guest presenter, still isn't here.

But, for this morning, we do have his girlfriend Gwen on the phone:

CSOTD: Thanks for calling in.

Gwen: Yeah, well, I just wanted to apologize for Nick. He really, really loves Hot Action Cop, and he was really hurt when you said those things.

CSOTD: And what about you? Big fan?

Gwen: Uh, not so much *laughs*. He said that he wasn't coming on your blog anymore, but I know he was supposed to be there the whole week, and I thought that was kind of unfair, so I wondered if I could chose a song instead.

CSOTD: Yes, absolutely, what did you have in mind?

Gwen: What about Rainy Night In Georgia by Brooke Benton, is that cool enough?

CSOTD: Wow, absolutely. You've got great taste in music, maybe we should have asked you to chose our songs this week! You sound really cute too. Do you have any pictures you could send to us? You know, for the blog. We could put up your picture with today's song.

Nick: Uh, don't push it.
