Tuesday, July 16, 2024: TWOfer Tuesday - The "Bastille My Heart" Edition

 

Sunday was Bastille Day. If you don't know, it's a French national holiday that commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, a key event at the beginning of the French Revolution. 

It symbolized the end of the monarchy, the birth of the sovereign nation, and eventually led to the establishment of the First French Republic. 

Since I don't blog on Sunday's I missed it, so I thought I would make up for it today with some tasty and cool French tunes. 

 

 

OK, so Whyte Horses are actually from Manchester, England, and MUNYA is based out of Montreal, Québec. So sue me.  Go pull out all your Édith Piaf records if you are that bothered about cultural purity.  Me, I'm in L'Amour with all of today's selections, so there.  Besides,

Monday, June 25, 2012: Band Of Horses - No One's Gonna Love You

I've blogged Band Of Horses before, so I was actually leaning more to posting Cee Lo Green's cover of this 2008 single, mostly because I'm leary of posting the same band twice.

I mean, there's so much good music out there, if I start doing double posts, or even triple posts, how can I share with you, gentle reader, all the cool songs that are out there?

But, I just love the honestly and good vibes that come from this song, and this band, and good vibes are definitely something everyone needs on a Monday morning.

So here's to the cool songs, and the cool bands, and double dipping into the cool pool to make a great Monday morning.

CSOTD Bonus Edition: Band Of Horses - N.W. Apt

I'll admit, the über-clichéd drum into comes dangerously close to making this track uncool.

But after that, I'm totally in love with the pure-pop sensibilities and driving motion of this song. This is one of those tunes that is pure cotton candy; you probably won't get too much from it in the long run, but I doubt you'll hit your steering wheel harder to any other song you listen to this year.
