Please, sir, may I have some more of those BLOCK ROCKIN' BEATS?
Are you kidding me right now? I'm only just discovering that, through all these years of doing Cool Song Of The Day, I have never, not once, posted anything from ABBA?
That's insane. I can't, I just can't. I can't even. Just, give me a moment.
What the actual hell.
Well, here are two cuts of pure pop perfection for you lost and thirsty souls.
Enjoy. I'm going away to think about my life choices.
What were you doing when you were fifteen years old?
Well, if you were Daniel Johns (vocals/guitar), Ben Gillies (drums), and Chris Joannou (bass), you were in a band called Silverchair, and you released "Tomorrow" as your debut single in September 1994.
Straight outta Newcastle, NSW, Austrilia, Silverchair formed in 1992, but gained international fame in the mid-1990s with their grunge-influenced sound, often compared to bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
Appearing on their first album "Frogstomp" (1995), "Tomorrow" became a massive hit in Australia, reaching #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Later, it went on to achieve significant success internationally, especially in the US where it received heavy rotation on MTV, and reaching #28 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Apparently, the song's lyrics were inspired by a TV documentary about a wealthy man who struggled to adapt to a more basic lifestyle. With its characteristic grunge sound, heavy guitar riffs and dynamic shifts between quiet verses and loud choruses, and fueled by Daniel Johns' distinct vocals, it become an anthem of the '90s alternative rock scene.

See you Monday!
Love songs on Valentine's Day mean nothing.

LISA, born Lalisa Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Thailand, is a member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, where she has achieved global recognition. Which is why, probably, I've never heard of her. I don't think we have blogged any K-POP at all here on CSOTD.
Rounding out this specific collaboration are Doja Cat, born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, on October 21, 1995, in Los Angeles, California) and RAYE, or Rachel Agatha Keen, born on October 24, 1997, in London),
"Born Again", released on February 6th of this year, is a fusion of LISA’s K-pop influence, Doja Cat’s genre-blending style, and RAYE’s soulful pop-R&B sound. Saying all that though, it does feel completely at home at the aforementioned Studio 54, all those years ago.
Exactly as Peter Allen once sang,
"Don't throw the past away,
You might need it some rainy day,
Dreams can come true again,
When everything old is new again."
