Straight Outta Sin City, SpiritWorld is a heavy metal band founded in 2017 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Stu Folsom. The band uniquely blends thrash and death metal with Western and horror themes, a style Folsom describes as "death western."

Viva Las Vegas, indeed.

"Say It Right" is probably my favorite Nelly Furtado song,  those atmospheric beats and haunting vocals will always hold a special place in my heart.  

Whatever happened to Timbaland, come to think of it.

 

Tuesday, March 25, 2025: TWOfer Tuesday - The "I Don't Know Much About Rap" NSFW Edition

I don't know much about rap.  All I do know is there is nothing like the vibe that came out of early 90s rap.

And, as the title says, these songs are NSFW, so be warned.  I try every day to keep this blog as family friendly as possible, which, honestly, is a challenge sometimes.  

I do what I can to avoid "explicit" lyrics.  But, once in a while, the cool overrides the caution.

And make no mistake, these songs are sub-zero cool.  This whole era was magic. Chill, velvet smooth and creative as heck.  So, apologies for the language.  I'll mention it the next time I'm at confession.

Along with confessing how much I love early 90s rap.  Forgive me, Father, for I got cooool taste.

 

Monday, March 24, 2025: Sam Fender - People Watching

CSOTD is about cool songs.  Sharing cool songs, discovering cool songs.

Sometimes, however, it is about more than "cool", sometimes a track comes along that just knocks your socks off.  And we go from "cool" to "killer".  This is killer.

It's a perfect "It's Monday, Crank It UP!" song.  In the best spirit of Springsteen and, yes, The Killers, Sam Fender has hit the bullseye with a track that, I hope, gets picked up and broadcast out.  I expect to hear this song playing from open windows as I pass apartments, or from large boom boxes as beautiful girls roller skate by.  I'm rambling.  Anyway, here's one of the first great songs of the new year, check it out. 

And watch those socks, they're going to be on the other side of the room in a minute.  I guarantee it.

The thing about it is, I'm kind of a jerk.

I try not to be, but sometimes it just comes out. It's one of the reasons I find one on one personal interaction so awkward much of the time, it's because I know I'm going to say something to piss the other person off.  

When I think about my life, I often land on those moment where I just say something stupid.  Or mean spirited.  Or just outright horrible.  They say that you regret the things you don't do more than you'll ever regret what you have done.  I get that idea, but I'm not convinced.  I regret most of the things that I've said over the years.  

I wonder about people who I would classify as "good souls".  I wonder what would they think of themselves?
