I used to play acoustic guitar. When I was in my teens, and early 20s, I was pretty into it. Went to coffee shops and open mic nights. I was never very good, but I had a great time. Even tried writing some songs at one point. Those are probably better left unsung, lol.
There is something special about just a voice and a guitar. First of all, it is a skill, a talent, a gift, to be able to do it well. Not everyone can. And very, very few are truly great at it.
Next, there is something powerful there. You have more of an impact because you have less. Whether it is a protest song, a love song, or a song to just mindlessly dance around to, having a voice and a guitar makes an impact, makes a statement.
