Saturday, January 29, 2011: Lower Dens - I Get Nervous

"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."

Friday, January 28, 2011: Peter Frampton - I'll Give You Money (Live)

It's tough these days to really make people understand just how big Frampton Comes Alive was.

You just can't overestimate how impactful this album was, especially to people of a certain age.  This album was frickin' EVERYWHERE in 1976.

It also summarizes and encapsulates the 1970's in so many ways.

Which is both a good and bad thing.

If you want an introduction to the fuzzy, furry sound of 70's guitar, you could do worse that start here.  If you want to review very soft-focused lyrics about love and devotion in true 70's style, this would be high on your list of reading material.

And, as well, if you want a snapshot of everything that punk was about to challenge in a few years after it's release, which is probably the most telling things of all, then go to Styx, The Bee Gees,  and ELO first.  Then, yes, come here.

Which shouldn't take away from the fact that this is probably one of the best live albums ever released, and this track is about as cool as a Friday song gets.

Grab your PBR and the 8-track of Frampton Comes Alive, get into your Camaro, pick up your best girl and  burn rubber for the outskirts of town with this song cranked up.

Then, when you get to Lover's Lane, that parking spot overlooking the city, put on Baby I Love Your Way.

Frampton Comes Alive, indeed.

CSOTD Bonus Edition: Let's Make It A Jakob Dylan Double Header, Shall We?

I really dig this song - Even though I love the new song, if all we ever get of Jakob Dylan is this tune, I'm good.

I really am

Thursday, January 27, 2011: Jakob Dylan - Nothing But The Whole Wide World

Here's a song you can listen to over and over and over and over and over and over again

And please do.

If you are mad, you will be calmed, if you are down, you will be uplifted, if you are tired, you will be given a dose of inspiration.

Yes, it's that good.

It's Jakob Dylan, doing it like very, very few people in the entire world can.

Enjoy.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011: Joss Stone - Right To Be Wrong

You can't teach a person to sing like that, you just can't.

Just because it's a cliché, doesn't mean it ain't true.

Monday, January 24, 2011: Yardbirds - Heart Full Of Soul

Anther Monday.

What do you need to work through this week?

No, scratch that.

What do you need to rise above merely existing and getting by, but to truly live this week? What do you need to breakthrough the haze of the day to day routine?

What do you think it takes to overcome above the mundane, the ordinary, the passable, and truly live?

I'll tell you something, many people will tell you many different things. Most will put it in a book, or a bottle, and try to sell it to you like the thieving hucksters they are.

Ignore them, scrape 'em off.

I believe all you need, all you truly need to really experience life to its fullest

Is a heart full of soul.
