Friday, July 13, 2012: The "Man, The 80's Had A Lot Of Songs About Telephones" Edition

Man, the 80's had a lot of songs about the telephone.

The most obvious selection, obviously, would be Stevie Wonder's 1984 smash, I Just Called To Say I Love You.

But, since you are here at Cool Song Of The Day and not Sentimental Tacky Crap Of The Day (Do we look like the kind of blog that plays I Just Called to Say I Love You? Go to the mall), we'll give that one a pass. As well as 1982's 867-5309 (Jenny), as passed over on yesterdays' blog.

Other telephone themed songs from the 1980's:

X - Your Phone's Off the Hook, But You're Not (1980)

Yazoo - Bad Connection (1982)

Skyy - Call Me (1982)

Fun Boy Three - The Telephone Always Rings (1982)

Sheena Easton - Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair) (1983)

Hot Chocolate - Tears On The Telephone (1983)

Midnight Star - Operator (1984)

Rockwell - Obscene Phone Caller (1984)

Bob Geldof - This is the World Calling (1986)

Kraftwerk - The Telephone Call (1987)

And probably a lot more that I probably forgot.

But there should be enough here to get your weekend started right, especially if you're rocking the retro groove.  And, hopefully, we've given you enough Dutch (musical) Courage to go and give that special someone a call.  Out of the blue. I bet it'll make their day.

However you choose to make it, gentle reader, make it a good one.
