Hailing from Tulsa, OK (via Dallas, TX), St. Vincent (Anne Erin Clark) was named the 26th greatest guitarists of all time by that, now infamous, Rolling Stone list.
Just above Buddy Guy and two spots above David Gilmour. Also ahead of Brian May and George Harrison.
Yeah, no. That's not going to work for me.
However, that said, that doesn't mean she doesn't have chops. Trained at the Berkelee School of Music, she is still a hell of a musician, songwriter and artist, and definitely worthy of your time and attention.
Here's a single from her self-produced seventh album All Born Screaming, which dropped last month. Since 2007, she has released an intense discography that combines art-pop, guitar rock and a depth of experimentation that is totally worth exploring.
