See you Monday!

Saturday, May 28, 2011: Coleman Hawkins - After Midnight
Posting jazz on CSOTD is a slam dunk - most jazz is very cool.
Which, honestly, is one of the reasons I haven't posted any real jazz so far.
I've been trying to stretch myself and my beliefs about cool music - trying to expand my horizons and searching for cool in places where I, or maybe even you, gentle reader, might not think cool can exist.
And, if I may be so bold, I think this humble blog has done just fine for that.
However, for this lazy Saturday, what say we fall back into our comfort zone?
Let's enjoy that slam dunk. That easy cool choice.
And dunks don't get much more slamming than Coleman Hawkins on tenor sax.
Take it away, Hawk.

Booker T. Jones performs Lauryn Hill's "Everything Is Everything"
Yes, THAT Booker T.

Thursday, May 26, 2011: Motorhead - Iron Fist
Ok, enough with the chill.
I can't wait until Friday to get my rock out
And who better to break the mood that Lemmy and the boys.
Hit 'em with your Iron Fist, lads
Can you believe this group is over 30 years old?
Quick, name one group of 20 somethings that rock as hard as Motorhead?
Please post your answers in the comments section - right before I tell you how wrong and ill informed you are
Because nobody rocks as hard as Motorhead.

Wednesday, May 25, 2011: Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
It's a chilled out week so far, why spoil the vibe?
Here's one of the most chilled out 80's hits there was, a cool classic decades on
Put your feet up, break out the RC Cola, stare up at your Ferris Bueller's Day Off movie poster and don't you dare dream it's over

Tuesday, May 24, 2011: B.o.B. ft Hayley Williams - Airplanes
This was a huge hit last year, so obviously I'm late in blogging it.
Or, on the other hand, I could be early on blogging it's status as a mainstream staple.
Yes, admittedly this song falls into many of the ubiquitous modern music production traps that plague most new releases.
However, I think there is enough true heart in this song to warrant another listen.
Especially if you've gotten tired of it since last year, but also if you're hearing this for the first time.
This is a track that rises above the fray (no flying pun intended)
And we could all use a wish right now, couldn't we?

Monday, May 23, 2011: Yuck - Milkshake
Shook Down by Yuck
I'm a firm believer is shaking things up. Let's shake things up today.
Here's a song that's not on YouTube, by a band you've (probably) never heard of, and it's not even on an album.
It's not a typical fast, uplifting, crank-it-up Monday song.
Here's to the anti-Monday song.
Except, of course, it is very predictable in that it is very cool. Very cool indeed.
Here's to shaking things up in your own week.
Make that change.
And please enjoy today's selection, I think this song is boss.
